Intention to restate your “why”

We are on mile 1,250 of our road trip and I can already tell you- my own passion for adventure & travel has been rediscovered!

That is, for my husband and I who have had nothing but time together in the front cab of our truck, kids napping silently for slivers of time in the back seat.

“Aren’t you glad you aren’t working- what does it feel like?”

I asked my husband all about where he has been at mentally & emotionally with his job, as he finally starts relaxing his shoulders and can think clearly again.

His coworker has been out on maternity leave, having him managing both his role and hers among their team of cyber security engineers and Deloitte C-suite executives.

It’s been a lot of long hours and he’s felt his overtime creep into his little pockets of happiness - burning him out day in and day out.

We had a beautiful conversation of getting an RV, a little plot of land in the south to store it, and all of the adventures in nature that we want to take, allowing ourselves to dream again.

This time to focus on ourselves, our happiness, and access our imagination fueled our passion as both coworkers, entrepreneurs, and parents to think bigger and get closeR to our “why.”

Why do we spend countless hours on the clock of our work with such little immediate gratification?

Why do we lose sleep thinking about our performance, our skill, our progress?

Why does it even matter?

Subtract the material aspect of transactional exchange of working for receiving and get closer to what brings you to your full self.

For us, it’s time without a clock. It’s wide open roads with changing landscapes, vast skies, new sights, and gas station visits. Seeing the world that was created by God in ways we couldn’t imagine from our stuck and hamster-wheel-like vantage point.

It’s answering all the little demands from our 3 & 1 year old in the back seat with their wondering eyes and snack-stained clothes.

This time to unplug and “run away” helps us sprint back to our everyday lives filled with gratitude 🙏 and perspective.

My “why” is about freedom, adventure, and experiencing ways that I can help small businesss. My business is setup for this reason and it’s my mission to live out these values and support others as much as possible!

Questions to ask yourself:

  • What do I need to do or surround myself with to access my “dreaming” state?

  • When was the last time i dreamt of the life I aspire to have- has it been updated recently?

  • Am I running on fumes and for how much longer?

Maybe you don’t need a 2.5 week road trip covering 5,400 miles across our country, but you definitely need just 2 hours with us to dream up your Business Built On Passion at CEO Days October 1st.
