Ways to Meet New People
4 WAYS TO MEET NEW PEOPLE
And invite them into your community to grow your business impact
Finding NEW people is easy as we are super connected to billions of folks using the internet. But, finding the right people to invite to your expanding community requires curiosity & STRATEGIC focus on encountering new people.
This step is also great as it is something you can do to really secure a foundation. Once your community is formed, your next focus is to let the community build itself by nourishing your folks and making sure you hold up your end of the bargain for them wanting to show up there. They always bring people where they want to share value!

Use social media
Search for people you want to meet and follow them/ message them explaining why you are interested in following them
Tag your friends in a post containing something you find most interesting and attractive and ask questions or request them to share
Engage in the questions and requests of the groups you are already a part of
Ask, in a post, for recommendations to those you want to be connected to
Events (Live & Virtual)
Use eventbrite or meetup for virtual or in person events (you can always search events on social media too!)
Create a regular habit to visit these sites and look 👀 around
Follow and sign up for at least one, and give yourself a goal for being there or craft your introduction ahead of time
While being in the room, be clear on who you want to follow up with
If you hate going up to people at booths or hosting a booth to have small chit-chat conversation, I wouldn’t suggest signing up to be a vendor at local farmers markets, maker’s markets, or neighborhood chamber of commerce sponsored events
Explore FEATURED media
People are interviewed, spotlighted, or sharing expert content all the time. What’s stopping you from a genuine follow up with them from their contact info provided at the end of the feature?
Podcasts are a great way to explore new folks to follow, invite, or engage with as you hear all about their introduction and get to know them before it has to be a 1-1! Usually there is a way to take the next step offered at the end
Magazines for small businesses or large business are always featuring an article about someone or some thing. Find your reading material that suits you and follow up
Google blogs and topics you are interested in and explore key contributors that you may want to snoop around their stuff and start engaging with them
Pinterest, YouTube, and other search engines like Google
Now, these are going to come from you showing up as a “fan” of these content creators. Following, cheering them on, sharing their stuff, and being known for your noticeable level of admiration can go a long way. I’ve heard of lots of success stories from people in my own world view, actual people I know, who this has worked for! Who is your role model, idol, or top influencer of choice?
The entire point of this is that most people are connected to some form of existing community, online, in-person, or in spirit.
Get your foot in the door with that group or circle and then be clear on your ask for what you need and who will you need to be connected to in order to achieve that.
Be heard. Show up, and start to get gritty on doing the things to encounter your ideal clients that come from building your community, first!
I’ve put together a quick list of ways you can journal on/ reflect for yourself if you can find meaningful, and positively received ways to show up to new audiences.
Let’s create the intention to explore making new connections , or at least find out what you think you want to try, in order to meet new people!
